SEVEN is the outreach and recovery ministry of The Pentecostals of Alexandria to those individuals who are in need of recovery or in recovery, as well as their friends and family members. Whether you yourself are struggling or have struggled with an addiction, or whether you love someone who is or has been an addict, this ministry is for you. Even if you are not addicted to drugs or alcohol, if you just have a hurt, a habit, or a hang-up you'd like Jesus to help you with, you're welcome at SEVEN.
SEVEN offers weekly meetings on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday evenings at 7:00 pm in the Family Room of the GA Mangun Center.
Saturday night meetings follow the Celebrate Recovery lesson plan, individualized by each instructor to fit "us." Twice a month--on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays -- SEVEN hosts a "Big Group Dinner" from 6:00-7:00 pm in the Family Room (prior to the regular meeting schedule as noted above). Also, on months with 5 Saturdays, we host an extra meal meeting. The 2nd Saturday is "Burgers and Breakouts" - a casual meal of hamburgers, hot dogs with all the trimmings. Following a brief time of announcements, focus, and worship, the group divides into small groups for discussion. The 4th Saturday is a catered meal and provides a wonderful additional opportunity for fellowship as we celebrate recovery "birthdays" of more than one year with testimonies and sharing.
On Monday and Wednesday nights - same time (7:00 pm) and same place (Family Room) SEVEN hosts open discussion meetings. There may be a particular topic of discussion introduced by the leader - there may be an "ask it basket" - it's simply a time of discussion and sharing to provide strength and hope to participants. On Tuesday nights at 7 PM in the Family Room a "Big Blook" study is on-going, a chapter-by-cahpter, step-by-step book study.
SEVEN group sessions - whether on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Saturday - are designed to create and provide a safe place to find support and recovery through a 12-Step/8 Biblical Principles program modeled after the Celebrate Recovery program. Utilizing CR resources, guidelines for confidentiality and sharing have been established for each meeting.
"Our goal is to provide an atmosphere conducive to deliverance and recovery in which the Holy Spirit can minister healing to the hurting and hope to the helpless. . . . Come on in. The coffee is hot. We've been expecting you . . ." (Mark Cross, SEVEN Ministry Leader)
