What's Next? - Serve

Connect > Grow > Serve

The principle of servant-hood runs deep throughout the Word of God. Jesus even exampled the importance of serving. We invite you to help serve our church and community! Serving is a great way to connect immediately with others. No matter what your interests are, there is always a service opportunity for you. Below are three opportunities we encourage everyone to be a part of:

  • Lifestyle Evangelism
  • M25 (Matthew 25)
  • Join A Ministry

Lifestyle Evangelism: As the POA's most important ministry, Lifestyle Evangelism is for everyone. No matter who you are or what your level of involvement at the POA is, you can be a part of Lifestyle Evangelism, which is simply spreading the message of Christ, being a witness for His cause. Anyone can be a soul winner. All it takes is being willing to reach out and share the Truth of God's Word. Whether it's in your home or business, at the bank or the grocery store, or anywhere in between, we encourage everyone to participate in the great commission (Matthew 28:16-20).

M25 (Matthew 25): A common thread throughout the Bible is the principle that "the church" cares for the hungry, thirsty, poor, sick, widowed, orphaned, and imprisoned. M25 provides opportunities for people to connect the gifts and talents God has given them with the purpose God has for their lives by meeting the needs of others around them. Some may not be able to sing, teach, or preach but can visit, encourage, build, cook, paint, or garden. Everyone has a purpose in the Kingdom of God. The purpose God has given us often revolves around ministering to the needs of the less fortunate in our community. M25 strives to provide opportunities to meet the felt needs of all of God's children. We encourage M25 throughout the year; however, several times a year, we also have churchwide M25 events when we canvas Alexandria with a variety of services. Watch our POA Weekly Connect for the next event, or contact our church office at (318) 487-8976 for more information.

Join a Ministry: You are not here by chance. God created you for a purpose and equipped you with the gifts to fulfill your calling. He gave you gifts to be used to help build Jesus' church, and the church needs you! You'll find that serving in your areas of giftedness and passion will help you grow spiritually, and it can also be a lot of fun! In addition, joining a ministry is a great way to connect with other like-minded Christians.

While participation in many activities and volunteering in many roles are available to anyone, please understand there are certain leadership and teaching positions that are reserved for those who have aligned themselves with a higher level of commitment and dedication. Also, be advised that a background check is required before participating or serving in any ministry involving minors.

Not sure where to start? Sometimes it's helpful to just pick something and try it out. If you would like some assistance in narrowing down your options, you can contact our office at (318) 487-8976 during the week, and we will be glad to connect you to someone in our Volunteer Network.
